The people making Battlestar Galactica seem to have a commitment to putting their characters into painful situations, in order to explore that pain. So, for whom would being a Cylon hurt the most? In that sense, Saul isn't a surprise. All the season finales have in common that they push the show deep into a corner, that it would take great creativity to fight their way out of, and since this appears to be the last season of BSG coming up, this is quite the corner they've backed themselves into. They are such talented and creative folk I have no doubt they can figure it out by January. Moore has said that they have Saul's backstory already figured out, I can't wait to watch how they use these final 22 episodes to tigh up the loose ends.

This show started as a great si fi show with lots of action. Now its a show of stupid plot lines and no action.

Fix it now and I will start watching again.

I loved this show the 1st year and the 2nd 1/2 of the second year.

This show got so far off track that it began to belive that people that watch the sci fi chanel want to see the junk you tried to hype into us liking it. Now you say you won't do another season cause? This story line is not very good and the network wants to get rid of you.

how preachy this version of bsg gets just remember the origional was crap and it looks like their own the edge of an action episode.

hello every one ok heres how i see it first there are two possible expelnations for the 4 on galactica humans have allways have had an interest in recreating themselves while they created the chrom jobs maybe the other five are protype skinjobs created by humans. That could explain Sauls age. Also i think they only showed us 3 modles. did you notice that saul and anders are the same height and build only saul has 40 years of bad food and army bunks on him. the other theory about saul is that on a mission during the first war saul was captured and implanted with a chip or nural webing. It could allow him to respond to the cylon fequencys like other cylons as a sleeper agent. There is also a time travel theory a single cylon travels to the past installes awarness in the chrom jobs and wipes his own memory or converts to a preset program. anders and the others are less of an problem tryol could have been programed like boomer. starbuck could go either way she could have found a worm whole or died and resurected on a finale 5 resurection ship.

Alan, I don't want to be a grammar Nazi, but I had to read carefully to decipher what you seem to be saying. language is a tool to help us understand each other. Punctuation, spelling and structure can reveal the clarity of your thoughts... if you use them.

Please don't expect me to work harder reading your thoughts than you did writing them. From what I can tell, your ideas aren't good or bad, I just have to read them twice to make sense of it.

Don't you have a spell check? What is a "nural webing?" maybe that makes sense in some other language...

I'm inclined to believe that the final five are a much more subtle group than the 7 common models, and therefore its unlikely the 5th will be a major player, but rather someone who you'd say "oh?...ok...I guess...waiiiiiitttt...that actually explains a whole damn lot". They prefer to be the invisible hand which moves the greater powers around the chess board unknowingly. You'll notice they are all very influential people, but not the ones people look to immediately as power brokers.

Between the XO and Chief (the senior enlisted member on the ship) pretty much the entire support network for maintenance, ammunition, fuel, food and the other thousand little details that pilots, CIC staff, and of course the Admiral rely on without giving it a second thought runs through final five members.

The president's secretary and advisor screens the masses of information and decides whats relevant for Roslin to see and hear. The secretary makes the president's appointments, keeps track of her schedule, is the giant human(well, cylon) PDA that Roslin has come to depend on. Undoubtedly for every time there's a true presidential matter that gets directed towards the president, there's a hundred cases of "Captain Bob's Interstellar Lobster Boat wants a bigger rum ration" that get screened. But if you wanted to engineer a labor crisis, surely a few calls from a fuel refinery ship could be answered politely, and never followed up on. The president wouldn't even have to know about it until the situation was already locked in, would she?

Finally Anders. Small group insurgent leader. Never a man apprently destined for greatness, but works very well at organizing the common folk quickly and efficiently. Would have been a good officer they say, if he was inclined to go that way. Which he isn't, because he is the five's finger on the pulse of the average joe human. Likes pyramid, drinking, playing skee ball(or whatever) in the rec room. Is popular as a "good sort of guy" with most. Also undertsood human nature well enough to hold together a guerilla band on a bombed out world for nearly a year, but is mainly considered at best a junior subordinate by most of the big names. Not a bad asset to have in the five if you needed a low profile whisper put in here, or a sympathetic ear at the bar there.

So, my nomination would be Tom Zarek. Well connected politically and criminally, and provides a counterbalance to the Roslin faction. All around an expedient agitator, political organizer, or criminal dependent on how society needs to be nudged. Also took part in the insurgency with the others in the final five (get off you asses on new caprica and find earth you homo saipens! Did you think we keyed the copies in to your location so you would sit here?),and of course three would have known him since he was very much in the public eye while she was still hiding in the fleet.

All good extrapolations! ( I won't call them guesses) unfortunately we have to wait so long to find out. I don't know how they can keep an audience with this kind of lag. Note how slow activity is on this once busy site...

I'll have to do a review of all of the last season episodes before I watch the next season...

When and if it comes!

Good input, I'll refer back to it in '08
