The order will include a special two-hour "Battlestar" event to air during the fourth quarter of 2007 on Sci Fi, and will also be released on DVD.
Previously, the network announced a reduced "Battlestar" season order of 13 episodes rather than 22. Combined with a slight ratings erosion during the show's current third season, fans worried Sci Fi might cancel the Peabody Award-winning show.
The fourth season will premiere in early 2008. "Battlestar" is executive produced by Ronald D. Moore and David Eick.
This is good news, maybe they will use the 4th season to get somewhere in the story arc. I hope they find a way to have some more intrigue & excitement so that the ratings will give the Scifi channel a reason to continue their support.
Whether Baltar gets spaced isn't as interesting to me as some of the other open plot lines. Besides, Gaius is one of the more interesting psychopathic bad guys on TV.
This season just hasn't worked for me & I'm hoping for better.
I couldn't agree more with Max. What started out as a very promising season, with
webisodes and all to hold us over turned out to be pretty darn disappointing.
The fact that 22 episodes were ordered along with the movie is great news, but I
sure hope the producers get back to the business of fighting Cylons and finding
Earth and all the things that go along with that. Frankly, there were just too many
episodes that basically sucked. If they want a fifth season they need to get back
to the basics and give the fans what they want instead of giving us some of the
psuedo-psychological garbage we've been feed lately. Otherwise a great cast and
crew will be looking for work and the rest of us will be looking for something else
to watch.
