I had high hopes for this episode, but I felt at the end it was just not very compelling. Some of the courtroom drama was straight out of Perry Mason. Hopefully, next week's season finale will have some shocks in store.
Some oberservations -
-When did Anders join the military?
-Why could only Anders and Tight hear the music? Both of them being Cylons seems farfetched.
-Lee resing his commission over a tiff with his dad seems far fetched. What his does is to important to the survival of the fleet. Is he going to give that up to become a lawyer?
I agree. At least it was better than the previous episode. This was a bit contrived
but as with everything else they've done, the producers are obviously setting up
the next episode. I thought the same thing about Anders. Also I'm starting to
believe he may in fact be a "sleeper" Cylon. Tigh could have had something
planted in him while in captivity that is allowing him to hear the music and go mad..
Also, Helo's comment about something big about to happen was interesting since
he was the only one concerned about fleet's situation at that point.
Apollo has my vote as wuss of the galaxy. I would have much preferred that he
rather than Starbuck had burned up in a viper. Than maybe they could have
reincarnated him next season as Richard Hatch, the original Apollo.
At least he had a pair.
I liked this episode in general. I can't believe we're down to the finale. It's been a bit of a slow season. It started well and is ending well, but the middle was mushy and soft.
Apollo is growing into a pathetic character. The main lawyer for Baltar is a lawyer but at least he has some edge.
The Cylon plan seems to be to create the ultimate Cylon/Human hybrid. This is what the baby is all about. Similar to what they did with Riply in the Alien series where she becomes an Alien/Human hybrid. The Cylons can already take on human form, but they want to get to version 2.0, which probably means being able to reproduce human/Cylon beings naturally.
I'm with you, the Cylons want to modify the human race out of existence by co-opting the birth process to create more Cylons. Make me think of current day nano tech where lots of things are actually assembled using chemical reactions to create atom sized mechanisms.
And Apollo is as conflicted & useless as they get. I haven't enjoyed this season as much as 1 & 2. It just seemed to be shuffling along without really getting anywhere.
I watched this again yesterday and I really don't like Adama Jr. The fight between he and the old man stepped over some lines that shouldn't be crossed when arguing with a loved one. They seemed able to step over that line pretty quickly.
I think Lee is being a sh*t in court and tossing a lot of his life away pretty easily. Even his wife left him.
Another complaint. It seemed a bit too anachronistic when Tigh was twiddling with knobs of a radio. All communication between the fleet would have to be some kind of line of sight, like a laser, because radio waves would leave a trail.
The music is interesting. Is it a transmission? We'll know next season...
I noticed that the president's aid Torry was hearing it too. She was irritable and off her game. Maybe it's some kind of low-level emission by the Cylons to mess with the fleet & some are more susceptible. Lastly, Tigh said it was in the ship.
