Season 4 kicked off with a bang. Sci-fi played the entire series beforehand, which left my vcr overheating, but it's worth it. ... And wow. What can you say. Hell of a start. ... I still think the 5th Cylon is Madam President, or Gator (mis-spelled?) But I'll wait with baited breath to find out as Starbuck goes crazy. And what's with the new Viper? The time distortion thing--sure wormhole, time displacement, but the new viper, it wasn't just a wormhole. And then there's the fact she died. This show blows Lost away. I think they're doing the right thing cashing it in before they sink into the hellish plotting ,like that show has. Sad to see a great show leave, but I'm glad they're going out with style.

So long as they don't pull a Sophrano, or Dallas dream, I'll be happy as well.

The only reason that the show needs to come to a close so soon is that they focus too much attention on the continuing story and mythology of the show. They could have extended the series by examining issues through stand alone one episode or three episode story arcs that may or may not advance the underlying story. That happened in the earlier seasons.

As far as the last Cylon. It's Baltar. His being the 12th cylon would explain (a) how he survived the nuclear blast (he recycled like Caprica 6 did in "Downloaded"), (b) why he has a Caprica 6 in his head and Caprica 6 has a Baltar in hers (their consciousnesses mixed in the nuclear blast), and (c) why his character continues to have relevance in this final season (otherwise, as a pariah to both humans and cylon, why would the writers continue efforts with his future trials and tribulations).

Because they're planning a series of spinoffs: Two and a half Baltars, CSI: Galactica, and I Dream of #6.

Actually, I've been a little disappointed with the first two episodes. Clearly, they are building to the climax/conclusion of the series and tying up loose ends. That makes it hard to develop a new dramatic feel. Pulling a gun on a lead character? They did once; it feels weaker the second time.

Yes, I agree that Baltar is the 12th Cylon. But here's a twist: right now I think Starbuck is the 13th Cylon. After all, there was a lost 13th colony. Why could there not be a "lost" 13th Cylon that the others don't know about?

It is a pity that they are pushing the story to the end. Stand alone stories with greater comment on current issues, I think, could have made the series much more important in the history of science fiction. As it is, its historic contribution will mainly be in areas of props and camera angles.
